We have a few people around the forum looking at the online pool for a mac topic where we're trying to list the different sites around online that offer download pool games for a mac.
So, I thought we should start a discussion to see how many people who play pool and actually visit this forum do it by using a mac? I get the feeling playing pool on an iPad is going to be pretty hard unless it's an application that you're playing as the mac iPad doesn't support flash. Why doesn't the iPad support flash? Because Mr Jobs in his infinite wisdom says it's "buggy". |

After another quick check it does look like Pool Comps (poolcomps.com) is dead and gone for good.
What a waste of a brand and network of players! |

GameDuell also have an 8 ball pool game available on the site from what I can see.
It's called 8-Ball Pool and looks like the graphics are pretty good. When you first go to the game it's a little annoying that is seems like you can play pool straight away as it shows a screen with the 8 ball gameduell game ready to play with the cue moving around and the angles towards the balls but when you try and click on it the game is not live, it just goes to a login screen. This seems a little like cheating you into thinking you're already playing the game to me. In some ways it does help to be able to see the 8-ball pool game prior to actually deciding to login and play it but they need to be more obvious that you can't play it straight away but will need to login! |

When you're looking for online snooker games on the Internet, where do you look to play?
I'm having a wander around at the moment and trying to see if I can find somewhere that has a good number of online snooker players and isn't a pool hall but is solely a snooker hall. If anyone knows of a place like this, let me know. |

It's been a while since I've actually played an online pool game myself so I'm interested in hearing where people thing the best place to play is?
With PoolStars merging into PoolSharks PoolSharks is an obvious place to play that'll have a good set of players but where else to people play? We have had some discussions about sites like the Pool Empire Review and the Play89 Review but I feel like there should still be a few more good places to play online pool that I haven't heard about. Where do you consider is the best place to play online pool? |

I was just popping along to the PoolSharks site for a quick look at how they are going at the moment and can see that they're down for maintenance for about 4 hours (6 - 10am GMT).
This has to be one of the better maintenance page's I've seen before.. ![]() Very well done ![]() |

Ok, most people should know that PoolStars has merged into PoolSharks recently (it's still currently happening).
I'd like to hear from any players what the experience was like, both positive and negative. Any feedback you'd like to share? |

PoolStars has now closed down and has merged with PoolSharks.
It looks like all of the players are completely gone and when you go to the PoolStars site it say's they've merged with PoolSharks and all of the players should go to this page; Here's the page that you can find out more information about it from; http://www.poolstars.com/poolstars-poolsharks-merger/ And here's what they have to say directly from that page; Quote Dear PoolStars Players We have a big news. PoolStars is merging into Poolsharks (poolsharks.com). This is a great, new opportunity for all our players. By merging into Poolsharks, we will create a community with more players, more games, bigger tournaments and more fun. Combining with Poolsharks will create the biggest community of serious online pool and snooker players. Checkout Poolsharks, the guys there are serious and enthusiastic about realistic online pool and snooker. And now, we will all be in the same online community, on the same platform, playing against each other. It is easy to move your account from PoolStars to Poolsharks. Just login to the PoolStars website and visit our migration page here. On that page you confirm your transfer and download the new Poolsharks client software. Then just login with your existing PoolStars login name and password. Then, start playing. Agreeing to transfer your account to Poolsharks will close your PoolStars account. If you've already got a Poolsharks account, it is just as easy. Visit the same page here as above, confirm the transfer, download new Poolsharks client software and login using your PoolStars ID. After that, if you want to merge your two accounts and balances, contact Poolsharks support for help (support@poolsharks.com). Any real money you've got in your account is safe. We're not going to transfer fun money. But the whole withdrawable real money balance in your account will be transferred to your Poolsharks account after you log in to Poolsharks the first time. You will be able to start staking games right away. Or, if you prefer, you can cashout your balance from within the Poolsharks client software. The minimum cashout is $5. You will need to decide to transfer your account by 14 October 2009. The transfer of player accounts closes that morning. To keep playing realistic, high-quality online pool and snooker, you will need to have downloaded the Poolsharks client software after agreeing to transfer your account here. Poolsharks is the only client software that is as good as PoolStars. Effective today, it will no longer be possible to deposit money into your PoolStars account, to play games for money or create new accounts. PoolStars gaming servers will close on 28 September. If you want to keep playing high-quality online pool for money, you need to move to Poolsharks. If you have urgent questions, please email PoolStars support (support@poolstars.com). We look forward to seeing you online at our new home, Poolsharks. Good luck, The PoolStars Team Let me know if you've been through the process above and have found it worked out ok? |

PoolSharks has now brought all of the players from PoolStars onto their network.
It looks like the shift of players went pretty smoothly but I'd be interested to hear what other people's feedback is on the shift from PoolStars to PoolSharks. Let me know? |
