Wow, it's annoying when you're looking for some interesting now online pool sites to play a good game of pool at and all you seem to find in the Google search results are listings of shops online that are selling pools (i.e. swimming pools).

Confusion between the term online pool and pools online is even more prevalent as Google and search in general becomes the main way for everyone to find what they're looking for online.

I guess it shows that as good as Google is, they don't always get it right. Here the only real difference is the persons intent on trying to find something specific which Google has always said it finds hard to decide in certain situations.

What's the answer?

If you keep having the same problems yourself you really need to adjust what it is you're typing into the search engine e.g. if you usually only type a couple of reasonably generic words into search like "online pool" you might want to change it to "play pool online" which is more specific and shows the search engine that you want to play a game online rather than go swimming!

You could also generally try to include more words in your searches e.g. online pool game 8 ball might be a better way to find exactly what you're looking for.

Let me know if you've seen some funny examples of this  Grin
